- You will receive a welcome email when approved, or a denial email if denied. You will receive an email (exclusive to only approved applicants) telling you exactly what day and time (all times are Mountain Standard Time) a certain kitten will be available to reserve. This particular email will also contain a link to our direct reservation page. Use the link to log on to the direct reservation page at the exact time and day the email mentioned and keep refreshing your page until the button to “Reserve Now” becomes active. The first approved applicant to click on the ‘Reserve Now’ button will be directed to our secure online payment page for you to pay the $500 non-refundable reservation fee for the kitten. This reservation fee goes toward the total price of the kitten and merely tells us that you are committed to buying this kitten so we can take it off the market. It is a first comes, first served basis for all approved applicants for every available kitten. As soon as the deposit is paid, the button will change to ‘Kitten Reserved’. It will only allow one client to pay the deposit.
- The client that pays the deposit will be emailed our Purchase Agreement for signature, and you will receive a phone call by me from (575) 441-5000 to congratulate you. You will then begin receiving update photos, videos, and milestone updates about your kitten from us.
***Once you are an approved applicant, you will always be approved. You can get exclusive access to all our emails and information. There is NO OBLIGATION to buy. If you don’t like any kittens from one litter, or you weren’t able to reserve the one you wanted to, you can always try with any other kitten afterward.
- What if I live far away, how would I get my kitten?
- We have a wonderful pet nanny service we recommend that flies “in-cabin” with the baby from nearest airport to nearest airport. Check out Petcommute.com for all information and quotes.
- Do the kittens come spayed/neutered?
- No. Maine Coons are a large breed, and they need all their growth hormones before they are spayed/neutered, so they don’t have joint issues later. Our Purchase Agreement specifies you will have your kitten spayed or neutered before 9 months of age, according to our state certified, and AHAA accredited veterinarian.
- What do Maine Coons eat?
- Maine Coons need a high protein/low grain diet. I personally feed ALL my cats and kittens Purina ProPlan Kitten Food, both wet and dry. The reason I feed all of them kitten food is because the kitten food has more nutrients. I also buy rotisserie chicken once a week, debone it, chop it up, and use it as a topper for their wet food 2-3 times per week. I sometimes also use chicken liver, boiled, and chopped. The cats get lots of extra protein this way, plus they think it’s a treat!
- Which is more loving/cuddly, a male cat or a female cat?
- Ok, I get this one A LOT…and there is absolutely no telling what kitten will turn out cuddly, and which ones just want to be in the same room with you and get pets when THEY want them. It is an individual thing, not determined by the sex, but by the individual cat. I have some females I can’t keep off of me, and some that only want pets/loving when they want it. Any breeder that says anything but this may just want to make a sale. I would never guarantee which kitten is most loving, because there is no way to tell until they get away from their siblings and momma to live with their furever family.
The long answer is, we have a few breeders that we KNOW, that are established catteries, and whose values and ethics align with ours that we may trade with for adding new blood into our program. If you are an established breeder, and you want to reach out, go ahead and we can have a conversation where you will be asked a lot of questions and a required video interview with us, and maybe we will consider it. Otherwise, the answer will be NO.
Do you offer Breeding rights
